Privacy policy

The short version

• The calculators run in your browser. The numbers you enter aren't sent to us or stored by us.
• There are no accounts, sign-ups or forms that collect personal information.
• Google may use cookies to show ads here. You can opt out. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies.
• We don't sell personal information.

Calculator inputs

Every calculation happens in your browser with JavaScript. Prices, incomes, rates and the other values you enter aren't transmitted to a server, logged or saved by us. Closing or reloading the page clears them, unless they're in the page address (next section).

Links that contain your inputs

To make results shareable, each calculator copies your inputs into the page address (for example ?p=250000&c=oklahoma). That address stays in your browser while you work. If you bookmark it, copy it with “Copy share link”, or send it to someone, the inputs go wherever the link goes. When anyone opens such a link, their browser requests that address from our host, which may record it in its request logs like any other page request. Leave out anything you don't want to share. When you follow a link from this site to another one, your browser sends that site only our domain name, not the page address with your inputs.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes the technical details your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address, browser type and the address requested, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse. See Vercel's privacy notice.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are used. It doesn't use cookies, and it reports aggregate data such as page URL, referrer, country and device type rather than identifying individual visitors. It never receives the numbers you type into a calculator. See Vercel's analytics privacy notes.

Cookies and local storage

We don't set cookies. If you pick light or dark mode with the theme switch, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage so it sticks; it never leaves your device.

Advertising and cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. To learn how Google uses cookies in advertising, see policies.google.com/technologies/ads. If you opt out you may still see ads; they just won't be personalized.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see a consent message from a Google-certified consent management platform before advertising cookies are used, and can change their choice later. Visitors in U.S. states with privacy laws can opt out of the sale or sharing of their personal information for targeted advertising through the message Google shows for those states.

Ads never appear inside a calculator, and advertisers never see the numbers you enter.

Children

This site is for a general audience and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect.
